Review of Born to Kill (1947) by Orlok W — 03 Nov 2012
The first act of Born to Kill (20 minutes or so) contains some of the most brilliant, riveting cinema any fan of the genre could ever hope for. The rest of the film is good but just can't live up to its incredible initial set-up.
Unlike other Film Noir's centered around bad people (John Huston's unequaled Asphalt Jungle) Born to Kill never gives sociological, or psychological, reason for either of his fatale's horrible impulses.
This leaves Born to Kill as a film that works best upon reflection. Just enjoy the amazing performances while watching.
