Review of Youth (2015) by Huw David J — 30 Jan 2016
I find Sorrentino movies a bit hit and miss (I liked The Great Beauty but hated the confusing political biopic Il Divo) but I really enjoyed Youth. It had a surreal sense of humour (reminded me of The Lobster at times), stunning visuals and a superb soundtrack mixing classical with Euro pop.
It also had some interesting things to say about the future of cinema ("TV is shit", says the director. "TV is the future! In fact, TV is the present", the actress replies).
