Review of Youth (2015) by Richard S — 04 Jun 2017
I really wanted to like this, I'm a big fan of Michael Caine and I thought it would be a decent, moving piece of cinema about growing old. On the positive side it was a beautifully shot film that looked stunning but it was all just a bit too arty with too many dream sequences and scenes that happen only in the imagination of the central characters.
There are a lot of looks and nods, smiles and gestures with the occasional piece of thought provoking dialogue thrown in to distract from the overall bizarreness of the film. It was lost on me, a great shame :o(.
