Review of Your Name. (2016) by Tvjerry — 09 Apr 2017
Two high school students change bodies: a boy in Tokyo and a girl in the country. It happens randomly, but they manage to communicate and begin to establish a bond. Even though this import (dubbed in English) is animated, it could have easily been a live action film.
Except for the sci-fi elements, the subject and treatment could be played out with real people, which might have made it more emotionally compelling. This film isn't really about dazzling animation either: The characters aren't rendered with much depth and there's not much visual imagination, except for the landscapes, which are gorgeous.
As a matter of fact, there's not a lot about the film that's exceptional. It'll be most appreciated by fans of the novel or Japanese animation.
