Review of Young Mr. Lincoln (1939) by Bryan P — 29 May 2008
I'm not a big John Ford fan, since I work for the USDA and can never figure out all those ranchers and farmers eke out a living in Monument Valley National Park. But in this rather mediocre movie I see how hard Ford worked to frame shots and keep the extras moving.
1939 was a banner year for short actors, because you needed all those munchkins, and you needed whole battalions of short people milling around to make Henry Fonda look tall.
