Purposely painful--you want to believe Mavis is saying one thing and doing another, but you struggle with the realization she acts as vein as she plans. While there is a heart somewhere inside her, she has long let it pass.
All that's left is bitterness, regret, and pain. When everything finally crumbles, she is left facing the one man who took her as she was.
