Review of You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger (2010) by Patrick C — 21 Oct 2010
One of Allen's more contrived efforts. No characters are really worth rooting for and the dialogue feels wan considering its author. Gemma Jones and Lucy Punch are funny in their supporting roles, but they leave a depression in the film when they leave the screen.
Allen explores familiar territory better covered in previous films about infidelity and the age-gap in this film, only through considerably wan performances from Josh Brolin and Anthony Hopkins, respectfully.
Nothingemorable about this one. Here's to the hope that Allen will head back to Barcellona next year.
