Review of You Were Never Really Here (2017) by Imthenoob — 24 Apr 2018
What are people watching? There are maybe 2-3 pages of dialogue spoken throughout the course of the film. The story is laughably bare, generic and predictable. The "violent" kills are mostly off-screen and while Phoenix is a charming lead, as is his co-star Ekaterina Samsonov, There is still much to be desired here.
A majority of things are just explained real quickly and we move on. It's too fast pace. It should have been longer and there should have been more dialogue, more story to it. This is such a disappointment to me because I wanted to see it so badly after watching the trailer and reading up on. This film does not live up to the hype at all.
