Review of You Only Live Twice (2007) by Alex K — 29 Nov 2008
Another entertaining Bond film. The scope of the film has greatly increased, with the giant sets and spaceships. However, the level of cheese has greatly increased as well. The effects look ridiculous by today's standards, and the plot is very cartoony.
And Sean Connery makes for the worst Japanese person I have ever seen. And there's also the so called "ninjas." Aside from the ninjas, Japan is actually represented realistically. I was surprised, considering the film was made in the sixties.
I also really enjoyed Donald Pleasence as Blofeld. It's a shame he doesn't reprise his role. Overall, the Bond series is beginning to grow ridiculous, but I'm having a good time regardless.
