The movie is a juvenile comedy monster movie made for tween girls.
A female teen version of Clerks but with monsters.
I am not a tween girl. I am a 20 something guy. (as of writing this) So does this movie suck or not? The plot takes the audience onto a weird journey through stereotype Canadian teenagers. There are plenty of jokes about modern day teens being on their cell phones and Canadian accents. The true comedy comes from writer/director Kevin Smith's ability of making pop culture jokes. Don't worry the jokes are better than The Big Bang Theory. The cast is great and the guest stars are awesome.
Overall: Just an okay movie if you enjoy the comedy and how silly the the characters are in the movie.
