Review of Yoga Hosers (2016) by Facebook U — 06 May 2017
After liking the trailer of "Tusk" and then disliking the actual film, I figured I'd really hate "Yoga Hosers" after strongly disliking the trailer. I guess I theorized that I'd end up enjoying Kevin Smith's new wave of films less than their respective trailers, despite (at the time) only having one movie experience to base that off of. And oh, how ignorant that thought process was.
"Yoga Hosers" is really stupid. I'll say that right up front. It's ridiculous and dumb, and the humor is childish, and the visual effects are silly. But it made me laugh out loud throughout. Maybe it was because of how low my expectations were. Who knows. The whole thing kind of feels like it was constructed out of every idea the cast and crew had that they felt too embarrassed to include in a more serious film. And that level of self-awareness is refreshing.
We're in an era of over-populating cliches and superhero films that take themselves too seriously. So it's nice to watch something with no real cliches, that doesn't take itself seriously in the slightest.
"Yoga Hosers" is the dumbest movie I've seen in years, and it's really funny.
