Review of Yentl (1983) by Chris S — 20 Jun 2008
It is an inspirational and moving film which also has some feminist themes, and Barbra Streisand's character is so lovable because she really follows her dreams no matter what even though women were forbidden to pursue studying the Talmud.
Some ridiculous traditions are really meant to be broken. Unexpectedly, the ending is not cliched at all, and I love how Yentl decides to be independent and to still pursue her dreams in the end.
