Review of Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942) by Brian S — 10 Apr 2008
Honestly not my favorite music, and the dancing wasn't up to par with some of the other musicals of the period. regardless, it's a magnificent film about a great and innovative American. a patriotic burst of energy at the dawn of WWII and just as strong a model of patriotism today.
James Cagney was just awesome. a funny, lively tribute to the father of the American musical.
