Review of Y Tu Mamá También (2001) by Tatsuhito K — 16 Sep 2015
Nobody makes movies like Y Tu Mama Tambien anymore, not even its director Alfonso Cuaron himself. Although I adore his Children of Men and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, I wish he could go back to his indie roots, and make movies like this again.
Y Tu Mama Tambien is a road movie with brain. Kudos to Cuaron for his sensitive direction, Emmanuel Lubezki's beautiful cinematography, and the electrifying performances by the three leads. It pulls punches you don't see very often in road movies.
It's a small but significant achievement.
