Review of xXx: Return of Xander Cage (2017) by Lee H — 23 Jan 2017

Now I love action films, I even like silly action films but I don't think I've ever experienced anything as stupid as xXx: The Return of Xander Cage. I didn't see the first 2 instalments and won't be after this.

The film is bloody awful, with a terrible cliched script, horrible acting and frequent cringe worthy scenes with Vin Diesel being apparently catnip to attractive women in their early 20's. Vin Diesel looks like a 50 year old acting like someone 20-30 years younger, it doesn't work and the scenes with women seem farcical because of this and more Austin Powers than Bond - just wait till you see the scenes with his fur coat! Dear lord! The films plot is inconsequential, as it's utter balls that you've seen a thousand times before, but somehow done worse than before.

Even the action is forgettable and utterly stupid - apart from Donnie Yen, who does have some decent action scenes as always. This film makes the Fast and the Furious films look Oscar worthy film. Absolutely terrible, 1 star out of 5.
