Review of Wyatt Earp (1994) by Chris C — 11 Oct 2007
Just because this is long, drawn-out, and overly sombre..that does NOT make this film any more historically accurate than any other film about Earp. But, this is a movie, after all, and not a history lesson. Yet, even as a movie it fails. The casting is bad (except for Quaid who does an excellent job)...the direction is poor....the pacing is off...and so forth. Some of my most favorite films of all time are considered "slow" (ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST, LE SAMOURAI); so, I have nothing against deliberately paced films. But, this movie is just plain, old, boringly, SLOW!
TOMBSTONE is vastly superior on all fronts. Just my opinion...
