Review of World's Greatest Dad (2009) by Tom B — 02 Mar 2012
I really liked and enjoyed this cult little movie, starring the normally unlike-able Robin Williams. I found it smart, hip, current, dark in humour and mildly boasting confident swagger.
This American comedy (from Donnie Darko producer) is deadpan, twisted and odd fun, expressing itself well and delivering a satirical blast.
Lance Clayton is a single parent dad teacher, and a failing writer. His son is an obnoxious pervert who accidentally kills himself. Lance writes a suicide note to cover up the death. The note is hailed as genius writing and so Lance goes with the idea, living his writer's dream through his dead son's memory.
Sick, daft but amusing, clever and genial. Brilliant.
