Review of Working Girl (2009) by Caleb M — 01 Jul 2011
An 80s film that feels like an 80s film (look at the hair), when stories of people working in offices and going to business meetings were held in some bizarre revere.
Tess is a secretary who wants a promotion, and when her boss tries to steal her big idea, decides to simply pretend she's already had the promotion. But insurance brokerage or whatever is dull and baffling, Melanie Griffith never feels substantial enough to be the quick witted heroine and Tess's bed-hopping ease hardly makes her feel like a strong businesswoman, but fits right in with the used secretary image she's trying to escape. Meanwhile, romantic interest Harrison Ford is in snooze mode.
Still, if you love 80s films, it is watchable enough to pass two hours if there's nothing else to do.
