Review of Woodstock (1970) by Esther G — 15 Jan 2007
Classic musical epic that includes many of the highlights of the legendary Woodstock festival. The quality of the performances varies from great (Santana) to awful (a very stoned John Sebastian). Some of the best performances were left out of the film, such as CCR.
Still, it is a time capsule of sorts, if for no other reason that it shows the era many of our current societal leaders herald as the best time of their lives. That should keep you up nights. Notice the small crowd when Hendrix performed.
This film is what immortalized his "Star Spangled Banner" as much of the crowd had already left.
