Review of Woman Is the Future of Man (2004) by Dan B — 18 Jul 2007
This was a really interesting movie. The triangle that the three main characters form is so complex and layered. It's not quite love that both of the guys feel for Seon-Hwa, but rather a combination of sexual and territorial urges.
The movie is about learning from and confronting the past. It uses flashbacks to show just how confusing, obscure, and passionate the relationships between the main characters were. The acting is so personal and sometimes cringe-worthy in it's authenticity.
The emotions of the characters are portrayed in a really raw and unrefined way, and it really works. ANYWAYS, even if you're not familiar with Korean film at all, this is one I would definitely recommend getting a hold of.
