Review of Woman Is the Future of Man (2004) by Lauren T — 03 Apr 2008
I can't really say why I liked this so much. I guess it's because despite containing some of the elements I usually hate, it's a well-acted and sensitive, delicate story, with characters you feel for even though they seem to have trouble feeling themselves.
It has little plot and really no ending, but I felt completely satisfied after watching it. Hong uses nice pastel colors but is unusual in that you never consciously notice his camerawork. Overall, the film manages to portray something real about human desire and direction without ever becoming either pretentious or trite.
