Review of Woman in Gold (2015) by Sarah F — 04 Apr 2015
What a great drama! Good cast. Good story.
I have no comment on whether or not the story was historically accurate, but I enjoyed the flashbacks and thought they added to the story telling, even when they were longer than I would have hoped.
The small amount of comedic lines did not land funny, and could have been better, but this wasn't supposed to be a comedy.
It was nice to see a movie with an older woman without ageism, or a ton of "old lady" jokes or humor about aging.
Since I was unaware of the history, I was in suspense during the movie, wondering the outcome. Great ending.
Katie Holmes was just okay and her character fell flat. It was shocking for her character to be so trusting and kind to her absent husband. **Spoiler** What woman would be okay with her husband leaving the state when her water breaks? He didn't even have to beg to go or make a long winded speech about his career being special to him!
