Review of Wolfen (1981) by Robert H — 03 Oct 2010
A nice addition to the lupine horror genre. With a clear political message mixed in with native mythologies and some of the trippiest first person visuals I've seen in awhile, Wolfen is a nice change from your regular Werewolf story.
I particularly enjoyed the performances put forth by Albert Finney, Gregory Hines and Edward James Olmos. All three play very different characters and kept me interested whenever they were involved (which amounts to most the film).
Another plus was the good physical gore FX. Look a lot better than most the digital FX you see these days.
If you haven't seen it yet, Wolfen would be a nice choice for Halloween. Not entirely scary, but always entertaining.
