Review of Wit (2001) by Timothy B — 16 Jun 2007
Emma Thompson gives probably the rawest. most devastating performance I've ever seen - it's like being punched in the gut, repeatedly and with great force. The script is amazing - densely layered, dryly witty, unsentimental but rich with feeling.
It even made me reappraise the dreaded poetry of John Donne - now one of my favourite writers. Stunning, but not for the faint-hearted.
