Review of Wit (2001) by Kevin M. W — 06 Feb 2013
So I watched this and I have to confess up front that I love Emma Thompson like no one else. But this story hit a personal nerve and I was inconsolable. Cancer is so awful. And this story punctuates the reality that everyone has to face death, and face it alone. The literary professor played by Thompson has a bleak, empty, personal life and consequently her final hours are spent in pain and loneliness.
I cried like a little girl.
This is not a date night movie and if I were to watch it again I would be alone and have a big glass of wine or something. Thompson is on her best game and emotes her lonely and regretful life perfectly. Perfect.
