This was my first Ingmar Bergman movie, and already I can see why he's hailed as one of the greatest directors ever to have lived. His camera is his tool which he uses to its fullest capacity. He shows us emotions through his movements, everything very subtle but still there. While hollywood still had a backdrop-hollywood feel to it, with very over the top performances which reminded us more of theater, Bergman wanted realism out of his actors, which is proven by the performances which are all fantastic, and as I said, feel real. I must also mention the score which is extremely beautiful (I actually sat and watched the DVD Menu for a couple of minutes to listen to it).

A touching story about life and death and memories well done. I look forward to more Bergman!
