Review of Wild at Heart (1990) by Tamatai N — 08 May 2010
Probably one of David Lynch's lighter and more conventional films, even though it also has some very surreal and symbolic touches that make it a road-trip movie like no other. I found this film incredibly enjoyable, packed with some fascinating characters, brilliant (and sometimes hilarious) dialogue, spectacular cinematography and a few great action scenes as well.
Plus, probably the most bizarre heavy metal gig ever. The film really says a lot about love, sex, relationships, responsabilities and expectations; these themes wrapped around a solid storyline involving murder, organised crime and the burdon or dark family secrets.
Some say this is one of Lynch's poorest efforts, but if you're at all a fan of his work, this is well worth seeing.
