Review of Wild at Heart (1990) by Elaine M — 24 Feb 2008
A letdown from master-director David Lynch. It's not an awful film and ultimately there isn't much to say about it, good or bad. Dern and Dafoe are brilliant, as is Glover for what little screentime he has, but Cage brings nothing to his role and after not long, following the story becomes a drag.
The focus is so wholly on the lovers that we're given no real context so looking back on it, I'm only recalling a slightly pointless romantic drama that barely left an impression on me. However, there are some scenes worth the runtime, and it's not really boring, so hell, give it a try.
See Blue Velvet for a true Lynchian wonder...
