Review of Who Killed the Electric Car? (2006) by Eric K — 14 Nov 2009
Decent storytelling and use of narrative highlight the demise of California's EV and 0 emissions programs. Was very informative to folks like me on the East Coast who never knew that much about this initiative, as well as the development of an electric car-charging infrastructure and the automakers' ability to produce these vehicles. It does, however, take a long time to get to the point, and there was no surprise to it, as if you're watching the movie, you likely already believe a combination of Detroit and Big Oil joined to kill these plans.
But it did do something else: Just last week I saw a Toyota commercial that heralded the Prius as a step toward zero-emissions and electric cars, when, as shown in the doc, those cars can be built already.
