Review of White Oleander (2002) by Luca V — 25 Apr 2008
I saw this movie for the third time. Foster families, here are the specimen of bad foster families. And even those who have been to England or France to learn a language, can find some analogy between their host-families and those depicted in the Film.
The poor Astrid, who is a shy straightforward girl, who is forced to react against a tyrannical mother, who can manipulate people even from the prison. Astrid becomes a rebel. She proves that.
Hippies are idiot - Peace, love and flowers - yes, true till it has fitted them. Pfeiffer plays the role of an artist, single mother, homicide.
Zellweger is a feeble ex C movie actress; Wright Penn is a ex alcoholic who has found god, but she soon lost god, in favour of a gun that perforates poor Astrid s shoulder.
There is an happy / melancholic ending. With suitcases filled with those terrible days and people with whom little poor Astrid has lived.
Please Hollywood, Give us more Alison Lohman s acting!!!!
