A brilliant film. Should be considered one of Cagney's greatest and most haunting performances as Cody Jarrett. Virginia Mayo was brilliant as the wife being trapped between Cody and Ed. The most haunting thing about this film is that it is way ahead of it's time and Cagney stole the show literally every scene.
You could feel the hatred just by watching. The finale was my favorite scene with Cagney screaming "I made it Ma, Top of the World!" Just brilliant.
