Review of White Heat (1949) by James-Masaki R — 23 Nov 2010
One of Cagney's best and one of Raoul Walsh's best films, "White Heat" marks a return for Cagney into the gangster picture that made him a star 19 years before, and although the genre's heyday was over for more than 10 years, Cagney is still at the top of the world.
But there are a lot of aspects of the post-war noir elements, as the semi-documentary style, blackmail, and femme fatale (his mother, possibly?) could make this film a hybrid of the two.
