Review of White Christmas (1954) by Joanna L — 11 Jan 2009
This is my much watch holiday film. It has great singing and acting and an interesting, unique story. Unlike other musicals where you have truly cheesy group choreagraphy with songs, this movie makes it less cheesy making it into a "show" since all of the main characters play performers.
So the big group songs are put on like a variety show and not like a "let's make every possible Extra dance this stupid dance as we sing". It shows a performance era gone by where you'd go to see singers not just stand in front of a mic, but give a little comedy or amusement as you down your meal or drinks.
The songs and dances are very classic. And of course the singing is top notch from all the main characters.
