Review of What Lies Beneath (2000) by Tara M J — 08 Jul 2008
Finally, after the major drought followin Poltergeist we hav a true ghost story movie. None of that 6th Sense crap where nothin actually happens, drownin in pretentiousness courtesy of the director; no, this is a fresh & unassuming take on the ignored or ruined genre.
Truly creepy & @ times scary, the performances frm Michelle Pfeiffer & Harrison Ford make it a high callibre piece. It moves like a rocket 4 its time, & the end result is rather surprising.
Best of all it actually delivers the goods @ the end instead of promising much & giving nothin, like the aforementioned 6th sense & its followers (Messengers, Dead End ...). I luv the homage 2 Rear Window in there 2 - classic.
