Review of What if... (2010) by Rusty A — 20 Apr 2011
Great trailer with a potentially good story drew me in but the reality is the movie did not live up to its own potential. Overall I'm glad I saw it and would see it again if it came on (or if I popped in the DVD) but it fell short of where it should have been given this type of scenario has been given before in previous movies.
With my love of Facing the Giants and It's A Wonderful Life, and then seeing Kevin in The Santa Suit this past holiday season, I thought this might be a good mix of both the love of God and an opportunity to see what might have been had different choices been made.
Overall the story was fine, although a bit flat and the acting was too obvious. You knew you were watching actors/actresses and never got a chance to bond with the characters they were playing. However, I do think these sort of non-box-office movies suit Kevin very well and he seems very comfortable.
