Review of What Have I Done to Deserve This? (1984) by Marta K — 08 Feb 2010
I think it is a typical Almodovar comedy. It is full of absurdities and britches of the conventional customs. Think about a mother who leaves her boy with his dentist, since she cannot afford to pay him and the child is willing and able to participate in gay sexual relationship with the dentist.
Outrageous you may say, but in Almodovar's comedies this is done as a casual action. Similarly is the relation to drugs (Heroin), for example and to prostitution.
The result is funny and sharp.
