Review of We're the Millers (2013) by Mike T — 26 May 2015
Very funny, raunchy, heartfelt and demented ridiculously off-beat comic weirdness that was ok to watch, in many months of hindsight. a solid 7 out of ten, maybe a little bit below. I wanted to give it a six out of ten because that is how we all enjoyed the movie on opening day! After months of dwelling and pontificating, the movie has grown on us all and has done a complete 180 into what the movie was meant to be all along - a shockingly sweet comedy and a sweet, ridiculous movie with lots of family heart that we were all too dumb and sick to view a movie like this that was meant to be a lot more sweet than we all gave it credit for on opening day.
I am glad the movie has grown on us. It seems good now. I was wrong about this movie because it had it all. Sweet, demented fun. Clean jokes. Manipulative movie charm and ready made scene quotes. No grossness, no anarchy, no immaturity.
Good acting. Sweet scenes by Jenn. Sweet acting by Jason. The kids were alright. The movie was actually good in a long dreamy hindsight. I am so glad that it all worked out. Good movie.
