Review of Went the Day Well? (1942) by Andrew J — 15 Jun 2008
Fantastic, stirring stuff. It's amazing to think that the actor who played the vicar was in one of the earliest films ever made in 1910, while the little boy who saves the day - the only surviving member of the cast - is still working on TV shows today.
Watch out for Thora Hurd in her first film role. The actor who played the Nazi commander refused to rerecord some of the dialogue because it would have meant looking at himself on film... he was a member of a religious sect that forbade looking at one's own image.
