Review of The Wild Geese (1978) by Jude P — 17 Aug 2016
The Wild Geese (1978-British) C-134m. ?? D: Andrew V. McLaglen. Richard Burton, Roger Moore, Richard Harris. Several would-be British mercenaries (including badly miscast Burton) are hired to rescue African president from corrupt dictator (so what else is new?) Is film trying to be tongue-in-cheek? Is it supposed to be funny? Or just plain silly? It's hard to tell, since the movie shows off real violence and bloodletting.
Not to mention . . . it's absurdly long; three greats wasted in awful production that has no idea what it wants to be. Spawned a sequel.
