Review of Wendy and Lucy (2008) by Miika V — 08 Mar 2009
Zeitgeist movie of the year? Best post-apocalyptic thriller since 28 Days Later? Well that may be stretching it, but the point is that this is a quiet movie with a lot to say and not one moment that lacks for drama.
That a story this understated can find a climax so totally moving, yet unforced, is down to rock-solid craft and immaculate attention to detail. I know it's resolutely plain-looking but it's one of the most consistently engaging films I've seen in a while.
