Review of Welcome to the Dollhouse (1996) by Linda R — 11 Nov 2007
A chilling film. It's about a girl whose life just generally sucks. Her parents don't like her, her sister is a bitch, and her classmates bully her nonstop. She falls in love with her brother's friend and her attempts to impress him and just creepy to watch.
This is such a realistic and grim film, yet still very refreshing in it's dark humor(the scene where she almost kills her sister with a hammer) and quirkiness of the events. There's a kid who repeatedly threatens to rape her, despite the fact that it's obvious that he doesn't know what he's talking about, or what rape is.
