Review of Welcome to the Dollhouse (1996) by Jody M — 21 May 2012
Not a cheerful movie but it will take you right back to junior high school and all the angst, hormones and injustice of those days. This could have been the inspiration for the documentary, "Bullies" and it manages to actually make you laugh at the utter horror of the era (they should have gotten an Oscar for the costumes in this one).
Heather Matarazzo is absolutely brilliant and just lights up the screen with her orthodontically-challenged smile and Coke-bottle glasses. The rape scene just melted my heart.
