I think I might prefer this slightly naive version of Solondz to the pure cynicism of his later stuff. I mean, it's still bitter as hell, but the (relatively) light tone makes the whole "everybody's a fucking asshole" thing a little easier to swallow.

Although the narrative doesn't seem to know what to do with itself in the second half, the movie still manages to remain entertaining and funny throughout.
