Interesting that this movie got really bad ratings. It doesn't surprise me, Hollywood doesn't like Madonna but if people didn't know that she directed it than it probably would have gotten better reviews. Truly enjoyed that it was different, parallel stories between the present character while relating to someones life from the past. Wally W. thinks Wallis S. life is a fairy tale, when it really isn't and instead its a romance that is suffocating. In real life, Wallis Simpson and Kind Edward got a lot of criticism for being Nazis supporters but also for her motives for being with Edward while she was married and him being interested in married women. Was she really just with him for the money&comfort which has been said that was her goal to live comfortable. How she also did a great favor that she got him off the throne since his support for Hitler. Who truly knows lots of different views on this story...

The present character has her interpretations of Wallis Simpson and Kind Edward, which shows in the movie. It might not be as accurate, I think that's why they bash this movie. That one scene where King Edward is giving his speech reminded me a lot of King of Speech. Which actually relates to the movie. The movie is not perfect, it has its flaw but the scenes are quite beautiful&dreamy with the music too.
