Review of W.E. (2011) by Christian C — 10 Jul 2014
Madonna should just quit. She's just not a very good director. Her films, cinematography-wise, are absolutely stunning, vain and glamorous, but her directorial abilities are limited profusely. There, in W.
E., a film about a woman obsessed with what she perceives as the ultimate love story (King Edward VIII's abdication of the British throne for the woman he loved), with shaky flashbacks to Wallis and David's life, boasts some terrific performances but suffers terribly from Madonna's bad directing, not to mention Madonna's choice of soundtrack (Really, Pretty Vacant at a 30's party?).
