Review of Warrior (2011) by Christopher_G2 — 12 Oct 2013
I certainly wasn't blown away as others apparently were. It's often powerful, well-acted, and entertaining, but also a little melodramatic at points and very predictable. The whole winner-take-all element I found to be a little gimmicky, but it also made it dramatic I guess.
Nick Nolte as the father gives the film's best performance. Edgerton as one brother and Morrison who plays his wife are good too. Tom Hardy as the other brother is fine but a bit over the top. The fight scenes are well done, though they overdo the reaction shots of various people watching.
I'm mixed, but on balance there's more good than bad, so a generally positive review.
