Review of War, Inc. (2008) by Simo R — 07 Dec 2008
Not you're average comedy. I don't really think it even tries to raise deeper thoughts about 'the US economy being based on war' or anything else. It 'only' offers the context for the film and is treated like it doesn't mean that much.
The comedy is kinda black, mainly because of the war and capitalism everywhere. I don't think most people see this as 'ha-ha'-funny or serious. And really, it's neither. IT'S ORIGINAL. I can't think of anything quite like it.
It cleverly doesn't turn into a story about the main characters morale. That is made impossible by having him be freelance, sort of nihilistic and with his own past and soul, which seperates her from everything happening arounf him. He doesn't even follow 'his mission''.
Oh! And I laughed out loud near the end. How can anybody make this good a comedy about this stuff. And the conclusion is bold! THIS IS A MOVIE WHICH DOESN'T TRY TO BE TOO MUCH. That's why it works. :D.
