Review of Walkabout (1971) by Steven L — 28 Dec 2007

I'm not sure whether I liked this movie or not. It's a simple story on the surface, with obvious implications underneath. But on a more basic level, I found every character to be really annoying.

I didn't really believe any of it. I have also seen Nicolas Roeg's THe Man Who Fell to Earth, which I personally thought was a self-indulgent bore. He is only slightly less pretentious here, but his tendency to hammer us with the symbolism (hey look, the trees sort of look like vaginas!) gets a bit old after a while.
