Review of Waking Life (2001) by Lenard K — 26 Aug 2009
A series of dream sequences provide stream of conscious musings on the philosophy of life. Some interesting vignettes, a lot of not so interesting ones, I was most impressed by how this movie did a good job of portraying what I call concept dreams (the movie refers to the dream sequences as lucid dreaming, although concept dreams are only one variant of lucid dreaming, also the movie incorrectly ascribes some limits to the control one has during lucid dreaming).
Unfortunately, I found the animation nauseating and would have much preferred the movie had just been filmed in a Dogme style.
