Review of Waking Life (2001) by Jluis_001 — 13 Jun 2020
And I always believed A Scanner Darkly had been surreal enough.
But surrealism is the greatest strength of this film. The visual innovation for that time and the performances are also pretty good elements for this story but Linklater gets too out of hand with the pseudo-philosophical **** because that never feels right and tries to overcomplicate something that didn't need it.
Don't get me wrong, I liked this film, but Linklater repeats issues that he still has.
